Originally opened in the 1970s to serve the greater Bellefonte community, the Robert Kepler Memorial Pool is located in Governors Park in Bellefonte. Managed by the YMCA of Centre County on behalf of the Nittany Valley Joint Recreation Authority (NVJRA), the pool has been temporarily closed for renovations since 2020.
The NVJRA's Chair, Chris Haak, approached PennTerra Engineering to help with the renovations, including replacing and enlarging the competition swimming pool and providing a newer and safer area for younger kids to enjoy. Additional renovations that will benefit all NVJRA residents that reside in the townships of Spring, Benner, Walker, as well as the Borough of Bellefonte, include a slight enlargement of the site, reconfigured entry, relocating and updating the mechanicals, new and upgraded amenities, re-grading the parking lot for increased accessibility, and updated facilities for the bath house, concessions, and storage area. Once completed, Kepler Pool will be a recreational destination for local families to enjoy.
Community projects like the Kepler Pool not only create monetary value for the communities and residents where they are located, but also provide the backdrop for many memories to be made. PennTerra's team is proud to be a part of this project and looks forward to the reopening!
