The Yards at Old State

PennTerra Engineering worked with Toll Brothers Apartment Living to construct the largest student housing community serving the Penn State main campus.
The 45-acre site boasts cottages, duplexes, and townhomes with two, three, four, and five-bedroom configurations. The 268 units include a total of 1,038 bedrooms and over 1,000 parking stalls. This community is served by a luxurious clubhouse, complete with a pool. The site's total footprint is over 252,000 square feet.
Extensive landscaping, stormwater/erosion management, and thoughtful pedestrian and mass transit features were included in the planning.
A new, signalized intersection was installed on West Whitehall Road to extend Blue Course Drive into the development. For easy maneuvering by the CATA buses, a new roundabout was installed at the end of the road extension.
The road extension also leads to a new, 100-acre park called the Whitehall Road Regional Park. Residents and community members can easily enjoy the features of this park, as well access the Musser Gap Trail that travels into Rothrock State Forest.
