After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh – Johnstown with a Civil Engineering degree in December of 2024, Todaro contacted PennTerra Engineering (PTE).

“I liked surveying in school, but I hadn’t really been exposed to land development,” recalls Todaro. “It looked interesting and challenging, so I wanted to try it.”

Following the interview, he was excited about the direction of his career.

“When I walked around and I got to meet everybody, I thought this was a great place with great people,” nods Todaro. “I was ready to move on in!”

“Andrew has a great civil engineering foundation to build on after coming out of UPJ’s program,” notes John Sepp, P.E., President of PTE. “We’re excited to have him join the team and start his career with PennTerra.”

As a Design Technician, Todaro will be immersed in projects’ details from an AutoCAD Civil 3D perspective.

“I like CAD a lot – we used it all throughout school,” Todaro states. “The first days on the job have been a lot of training with different projects, watching other people work on other projects, and doing some house plan site work.”

As he gets up to speed on the technical aspects of his new position, he is also learning about the broader world of land development.

“I’ve helped take project plans, submissions, and other forms to Ferguson Township, Patton Township, and UAJA (University Area Joint Authority),” lists Todaro.

These are just a few of the municipalities and authorities that Todaro and his new team members will be working in and with to complete projects on behalf of PTE’s clients.

Todaro is excited to work on upcoming projects with his new team members.

“I like them a lot,” notes Todaro. “My first day, some of the guys took me out to lunch at Moe’s; we were talking and laughing the whole time.”

Personal and professional development are things that PTE takes seriously. As an employee-owned firm, everyone benefits from team members who are continuously progressing.

Within Todaro’s first month at PTE, he had joined the study group to prepare to take his Fundamentals of Engineering exam and attended a monthly CAD training session, an Erosion & Sedimentation Control training, and a company meeting.
